A liberating perspective on the deceptively idealized Unification Movement and its idolatry of the Moon family. May these insights help misled generous souls to break free from the Unificationist treacherous manipulation and subtly induced spiritual enslavement, with love and forgiveness...

YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS...
Too often people only see what they believe. I personally refused for too long to consider and admit what was contradicting my warped belief in the Korean “second coming” and the advent of “true parents”…
I was spiritually too tied up with daily hammered erroneous UM beliefs. I could then never imagine I would possibly desire to free myself from these justified bonds I had accepted.
It was only many contradictions later, many broken promises later, and many unfulfilled expectations later that I started to ask myself unusual and disturbing questions. These did lead me to unusual and disturbing answers about the authenticity of the “second advent”…
My faith was based on the premise that God could only use a very exceptional and spiritually gifted human to let his will be known. That how SMM was presented to me as the new Korean messiah. But I came to realize he was not really the one he claimed to be…
SMM claimed he was gifted with second sight. He was also obviously gifted with “second hand” concerning the DP teaching which he had just “borrowed” from the Korean Jesus Church.
His boastful claims and his self-made embellished legend were fascinating. But obviously his personal life history has shown however that he was not really more equipped with psychic gifts than any other North Korean fellow. His vast record of failed prophecies, his inability to detect recurrent lies and deep seated corruption within his closest circle, his astonishing capacity to be fooled again and again by opportunist sycophants, his numerous unwise financial investments and business blunders as well as his countless presumptuous proclamations of cosmic victories were more the clear expression of a real inflated ego than genuine spiritual insights and divine wisdom.
The mere fact that he needed to rely on advices (usually very poor) from other so-called mediums shows that he did not himself have this direct connection to the invisible spiritual world, nor this oneness with the Divine he pretended to have. In Korea, it was not Sun Myung Moon but a “great spiritualist” who supposedly has magically “liberated” –but not for free- billions and billions of spirits.
SMM did have an undeniable amazing power of imagination. He also had an immoderate conviction to be more special than others and therefore more rights than others. That soon led him to permanently confuse reality and fantasy. His authoritarian approach became dictatorial, using threat and fear to impose absolute obedience to his heavily burdened followers. These misled believers were sincerely convinced that they “had the privilege to carry the historical responsibility to faithfully attend the infallible “second coming”…
However, this narcissistic attempt to hijack the Christian heritage was simply a genuine Korean con.
Errare humanum est… sed diabolicum persevare.
So, let’s now lovingly forgive and be true to ourselves. And let’s learn from both our own mistakes and the examples to the contrary that life generously provides us with.
