ISN'T "RESTORATION" IN DP JUST AN ILLUSIVE ROLE-PLAY?

Authoritarian religious leaders know very well that words have tremendous power. So they subtly use a specific vocabulary of their own to control their followers instead of setting them free. Such leaders’ discourse can be very tricky…

Beyond its attractive slogans and appealing claims of universality, Unificationism is very well equipped with an ambiguous teaching to capture and control most sincere idealistic people’s minds.

While lately reflecting on the use of the word “restoration” in DP, something suddenly struck me, which I never thought about before. It led me to ponder more deeply about the meaning of this one simple word “restoration”. And  I shockingly realized the DP's dangerous potential to subtly send us without our knowing on the slippery slope of a spiritual dead-end.

DP uses first the term “restoration” to mention that all supposedly "fallen beings" can be “restored” to their original state which means to be “saved”. It means the very same beings who are now “fallen” can be “restored” or reconciled with God. It then really makes sense to use the word “restoration” to describe such a rehabilitation process.

However, after mentioning that, very soon DP uses the term restoration in a much more ambiguous way. In the chapter “principles of restoration”, it then states: “Therefore if a person fails in his mission, God “restores” the same foundation and the same conditions and chooses another person to accomplish "the same mission”. In spite of “therefore” it is obvious that “restoration” here has not exactly the same meaning.

What means to "restore" thousands years later, through different actors and within an all different cultural environment, specific events which are forever gone, and which will never be the same anymore in all eternity? 

Is “Restoration” referring here to a mere symbolic re-enacting -or a kind of nostalgic replay- of ancient sad historical happenings? Like if an immature unforgiving God was obsessively stuck in the past...

The most problematic situations obviously occur when dealing with Biblical legends, with the non-historical made-up narratives and the fictional characters who actually never existed. How this «restoration» of imaginary tales could possibly "modify their highly speculative providential impact” and definitely affect the course of human history?

The belief in this apparently harmless and imaginative theology has however a very pernicious consequence for believers: It leads them to submissively accept to be controlled by the “divine” authority of those who have disclosed this “DP revealed truth”.

From then on Unificationists' lives should be ruled by their cosmic messiahs...since DP says so.

In fact DP mentions the “restoration” of arbitrary labelled “failed missions” in order to convince believers to accept step by step the justifications of symbolic “positions” (through fanciful role-plays)… leading to the unavoidable magical “indemnity conditions” to be laid (including tuna fishing, deep bows in front of a Korean couple's pictures and cold showers for Heaven's sake). The ultimate unconfessed goal is actually the mandatory absolute submission and obedience to "Abel figures" (TP).

That's how the UM members have ended up been manipulated:

-in making loads of endless “providentially justified” sacrifices to "pay indemnity"

-in accepting weird missions (like bringing by all means people to sit on a chair when TP would speak, or distributing “holy candies” for people to be "blessed by TP"

-in submitting for years to human traficking (slave-like work or MFT missions) which had been labeled mandatory "formula" course

-in being burdened by illegitimate induced guilt and fearful threats (as means to reach total compliance) for “God’s providence to progress” and God's kingdom to finally appear on Earth!

Isn't his unprovable “restoration of past failures” just plain imaginative wishful thinking? It's a clever and manipulative way for Rev Moon to pretend inheriting the prestige of God’s past chosen ones. It’s then definitely a very efficient recipe for self-deceiving and to deceive others.

In its willingness to re-write history, Unificationism tends to become an "if" movement. If Adam and Eve..., if Noah..., if Mary..., if, if if......Unificationists sleepwalk in a world of speculations where imagination knows no limits. Through various suppositions of extrapolated Biblical legends, Rev Moon has subtly fabricated unquestionable new beliefs!

We obviously have no hold on the past. Why can't we once for all admit that the past is definitely gone in order to cancel the debts and start anew? Didn't Jesus say: "Go and sin no more!"? What means forgiveness?

We can learn from history, but we’ll never be able to change the past, even if we were Korean. I think Rev Moon was a great charismatic illusionist who believed a lot in magic. However, even though his imaginary enterprise to invisibly “restore” the past costed much more than all David Copperfield’s magic shows, it indeed was much less fun.

From his own megalomaniac point of view, however, Rev Moon victoriously achieved two great unprovable things: He singlehandedly “restored” all the past human history which he counted as 6000 years… and then he “liberated” God.

Rev Moon then generously entrusted us with what he considered as the easiest simple task he himself could not achieve: transforming the present world, and shaping a better future for all mankind.

So now it’s really up to each one of us to enthusiastically accomplish such a task. Isn’t it great?

Actually, apart from Unificationists, any decent human being on this planet easily reaches by himself this same great conclusion without Rev Moon’s peculiar teaching...

So, beyond the Mooniverse, one day we’ll all come to grasp the amazing power of God’s love and forgiveness. That's how God definitively liberates us, once for all, from our past.

For His greatest expectation is to see us becoming fully ourselves without resorting to perform unnecessary role-plays which authoritarian fake messiahs would require from us.
