Beyond the mooniverse

A liberating perspective on the deceptively idealized Unification Movement and its idolatry of the Moon family. May these insights help misled generous souls to break free from the Unificationist treacherous manipulation and subtly induced spiritual enslavement, with love and forgiveness...

THE PSEUDO VICTORY OF THE PSEUDO SUN MYUNG MOON AS THE PSEUDO MESSIAH

Once upon a time… …and they lived happily ever after.

The following story is definitely not a fairy tale but the tragic account of a pathological liar’s life.

In 1946 Yong Myung Moon was an ambitious, intelligent young Korean man who never had the opportunity to go to university. He could solely attend evening classes for two and half years at Waseda technical high school in Japan. Besides, for 6 months in Seoul, he also had studied Kim Baek-Moon's syncretic teaching (which he later borrowed and called “Divine Principle '') in the sectarian “Jesus Church '' also known as Israel monastery. The leader of that syncretic fringe movement was confidently claiming that according to his made-up chart of the parallels of human history, he was the returned Christ born in 1917 –precisely 400 years after the 1517 Reform initiated by Martin Luther-.

At that time the ambitious Yong Myung Moon had already started likewise to develop a whole other and much more prestigious “alternative truth” about himself. He came to claim that he had not only  graduated in electricity engineering at the Waseda University in Japan but that he had also discovered all by himself the "Divine Principle". And most of all, he claimed it was him who was indeed the genuine returned Jesus whom supposedly Christian believers were eagerly waiting for.

So when he had providentially married Sun Kil Choi in 1945, it was of course to fulfill - according to his messianic fantasies- what he mistakenly labelled the “Marriage of the Lamb'' –an obscure biblical concept from the book of Revelations which he wrongly interpreted as the holy wedding of the new Adam and the new Eve-. In his mind, Yong Myung Moon was then to very soon be welcomed as the long awaited victorious messiah and third Adam. He would establish the first ever sinless ideal family on earth, and the whole world would acknowledge him and come to kiss his feet while God and angels in Heaven would keep singing most beautiful hymns and composing greatest unheard symphonies to honor him.

(Later, in order to impress his fascinated followers the overconfident self-appointed messiah kept stating again and again that if Christianity had welcomed him as the Second Coming in 1945, the Kingdom of God on earth would have been established by 1952...)

In 1946 his first "sinless" son Sun jin was born. But surprisingly neither the whole world nor his own wife seemed to detect Yong Myung Moon’s unfathomable moral superiority yet. He then suddenly abandoned both his wife and baby to “accomplish God’s will” and went to North Korea where “God» had ordered him to go. That became his first costly messianic failure to establish an ideal family. It led Sun Kil Choi to courageously take care for years all by herself of her son, as a single mother, until she divorced the pseudo-messiah in 1957.

In 1955, after Yong Myung Moon’s escape from North Korea where he had been jailed with charges of adultery, he hastily performed (under his new pseudo Sun Myung Moon) a bigamous holy marriage with Myung Hee Kim who was then pregnant with his second "sinless" son. However, due again to other charges of adultery, this time in Seoul, the religious womanizer sent Myung Hee Kim to deliver their baby in Japan to avoid a greater scandal in Korea.

She only could return in 1959 with her son Hee Jin and asked for divorce. That became Yong Myung Moon's second costly messianic failure to establish an ideal family.  (Strangely enough, even after having divorced Myung Hee Kim, he kept having a mysterious hold on her. He actually was able to later convince his second brokenhearted ex-wife to become the new spouse of the late already married Socrates in spite of a 2400 years age difference and rather important language barrier...)

Meanwhile, the now named Sun Myung Moon kept labelling “providential” his dubious and irresponsible behavior while explaining that his troubles with mundane justice were actually the direct result of his followers’ failures to fulfill their missions. It obviously had nothing to do with his proven unreliability and megalomania.

In 1960, 40 years old Sun Myung Moon married 17 years old Hak Ja Han who gave birth to 14 other "sinless" children. Meanwhile Sun Myung Moon continued to have other concubines and secretly fathered another child out of wedlock in 1965 in the US. That of course didn’t help much to strengthen love bonds within his third official family which imploded from being plagued with numerous scandals, divorces, drug addictions, suicide, adulteries, mutual ostracism and fierce fighting for power including legal proceedings. It became Sun Myung Moon's third costly messianic failure to establish an ideal family.

One can notice that Sun Myung Moon was undeniably the sole common denominator in all these three failed attempts to set up a model "divine" family.

However he kept saying he had won a cosmic victory and successfully established the foundation of God’s Kingdom on earth, in spite of the supposed failures of his 3 succeeding wives and of his unworthy followers.

Nonetheless Yong Myung Moon’s pathological narrative of his pseudo victory as a pseudo messiah under the pseudo “Sun Myung Moon” can’t fool anyone any longer.

Not even among the few misled remnant Unificationists who will now hopefully start waking up at the twilight of the disenchanted Mooniverse…
