A liberating perspective on the deceptively idealized Unification Movement and its idolatry of the Moon family. May these insights help misled generous souls to break free from the Unificationist treacherous manipulation and subtly induced spiritual enslavement, with love and forgiveness...

Revelations differ from ordinary thoughts. They are authenticated by deep meaning, vision and wisdom. They are gifts from Heaven to map out our way, like road signs.
But revelations can be so venerated that it turns to idolatry of the words with the forgetting of the spirit and the life direction they are meant to convey.
We can get stuck worshipping road signs or the one who was holding the sign he had been given while pretending being himself the source with the full knowledge of the way. You can debate with a philosopher, but not with a prophet and even less with a messiah…
In the UM, it looked like if all the complex and intertwined world problems had suddenly a simplistic universal solution of which only SMM had the secret. He said he knew most intimately God’s heart and consequently he knew perfectly God’s will. He confidently stated it over and over.
Sometimes confidence is just the feeling one have before really knowing what it is all about…
Unification belongs to a long range of ambiguous promising hopes for universality. Humans are craving for spiritual enlightening, genuine unity in love and universal peace.
The apparently reasonable Unificationist ideology (with its definite circular logic) actually contains more gaps and lacks of substance than the famous Swiss Emmental cheese…
Of course, UM members can themselves fill these holes with their own delusions in a desperate attempt to make sense out of the whole thing. In return it validates their qualification as chosen ones.
The troubling point is that ultimately only SMM knew best everything. He managed to manipulate believers as he wanted by adding “new insights” that could bluntly contradict one day the “absolute truth” he “adamantly” explained the day before. Revelations being absolute cannot be discussed…
DP, Unification thought, and Head-wing ideology remain as 3 vague and ambiguous revelations which hold a mysterious power of fascination on idealistic seekers and those who did not find all made satisfactory answers elsewhere…
In its first chapter, DP explains through few diagrams and multiple arrows the beauty of unselfish life rooted in God’s love. It’s all a matter of positions and 3 stages of growth, providing that all arrows reach their intended target. That’s it! So simple…
The DP second chapter is about the fall and all following chapters are about restauration. They only exist to explain that SMM is the returned messiah in the flesh who will establish God’s ideal on earth. DP “justifies” through the fantasist made up “parallels of history”. This is actually a recycling of the teaching used in the 1940’s by the Jesus Church in Korea to prove that a certain Kim Baek Moon, who was born in 1917, was himself the returning messiah.
Furthermore, the principle of restauration heavily explains how salvation can only exist through total submission and absolute obedience to Abel: this was SMM’s most convenient and perfect tool to manipulate sincere followers!
But confronted with reality, the ambiguities and lack of coherence of the “revelation” progressively surface, in spite of the initially apparent implacable logic of the dogmatic DP.
I recognize now that DP is an ambiguous mixture of fictional characters (Adam and Eve), of biblical myths and justified totalitarian principles. It then leads to the final fake “parallels” of arbitrarily chosen past events and legends to “prove” Sun Myung Moon‘s messiahship. This DP has however long played in my youth the role of a reassuring crutch on my life journey.
This pretention to superiority for detaining ‘the fullness of truth” makes unification a mere wishful thinking. It’s just a seducing label and a subtle concealment for unconfessed proselytism. Under the cover of “unifying”, the prime and only intention is to convert to Moonism. To catch all these poor lost souls who haven’t yet drunk holy wine. It’s a disrespectful and blind denial of God’s working with others.
Once you belong to UM, you constantly delude yourself in the posture that you are having the exclusivity of salvation. You have nothing anymore to learn from other providential paths which have no value anymore in God’s eyes. The Unification ideal tends to become mere standardization but you can’t notice anymore this inherent ambiguity.
Unless members genuinely ponder about the real reason for the inefficiency of this arrogant approach, the delusion will still survive a while longer. This would however probably require to stay away from controlling group pressure and the constant activist demands from the UM…
The “Head-wing” label seems to correspond to a non-divisive, unbiased and balanced vision able to go beyond historical political cleavages, and forward global peace.
However, SMM associated with any opportunist sycophant who would show the slightest sign of interest toward him. Such people, in exchange of substantial financial backing would become for SMM useful means to get some kind of illusory power of influence and simultaneously feed his ego. This explains why he so often “bet on the wrong horse”…
Without batting an eyelid, SMM could explain to his idealistic obedient followers the “providential reasons” of his collaboration with most brutal totalitarian regimes in South America and LEPEN in France.
Today, either out of compulsive tradition or out of weird nostalgia for far right political figures, many Unificationists seem to “unconditionally” support TRUMP as the providential champion whose embodiment of head-wing ideology is for the least rather ambiguous and seriously lacking transparency toward making our world great again.
The unification Movement has constantly been providing vague and ambiguous revelations as a frame of mind for its faithful members. This was the perfidious usual method to better control them and mercilessly use them “for the good cause”. However, again and again, the practice regularly betrayed and trampled the idealistic “revealed” theory. The objective was primarily to satisfy SMM’s narcissistic ambitions.
But UM members have been so well trained to disregard such a reality that they could continue to live their schizophrenic obedient disciples’ life for years. SMM managed to appear, in their eyes, as the providential infallible messiah. He then was "allowed" to use authoritarian methods when needed to forward his own agenda and cosmic delusion.
However, he failed and the delusion is gone.
This has been the hard way to freedom for many once Unificationists. Unfortunately, years later, members and even some former members can’t really free themselves from such a so long hammered DP frame of mind or moonie thinking. Their beliefs have become their identity.
Now, we all know for sure that the call for an adventurous life generally minimize the potential dangers and the unsuspected slippery slopes on the way.
Wisdom definitely grows with experience…
