"GLASNOST" WITHIN THE UM?

Mikhail Gorbatchev recently passed away at 91.

He will be remembered as one of the main actors in the fall of the communist Soviet Union through his politics of “glasnost” which can be translated as “transparency”.

He didn’t wait for nor count on Rev Moon to achieve that.

However the Unificationist legend keeps promoting a rather different narrative which exalts the central and crucial role of Rev Moon in the fall of communism.

The fact is that through spending incredible amounts of money - money which most probably came from Japan- Rev Moon managed to buy the opportunity to have his picture taken in the company of Mikhail Gorbatchev in 1990.

The backstage of the “victorious Moscow rally” actually reveals that it was indeed solely through the hardly relevant but costly “11^th World media conference” staged show in the Soviet capital and the bribing of political figures that a delegation of participants in this conference was received by Gorbatchev. Then SMM seized this opportunity to attend the meeting and be photographed near Gorbachev. It was followed by an informal meeting with the Russian leader. Nothing was to be recorded from this informal meeting. That became the “providential victory”…

In 1990, the UM and all Unificationist media made a big fuss of this happening. It has been presented as the highest fulfillment of God’s providence and the “True Parents’ absolute victory”.

32 years later who can still claim today such nonsense and believe such a fable? Where are the glorious fruits? Where are all these journalists and these leaders who attended the victorious Moscow rally? What remains from that costly smoke and mirrors propaganda?

Few years ago I watched a very interesting lengthy 2 hours interview of Mikhail Gorbatchev on European media. He was asked about his most significant encounters during his 6 years at the head of the Soviet Union. In Gorbatchev’s sharp and vivid memory Rev Moon never showed up. And no mention at all was made of the so-called SMM’s cosmic achievement. Obviously for Russians the 1990 happening was far to be as important and memorable as in the Unificationist delirious claim.

Then I came to think that UM had actually missed a huge opportunity at that time.

Indeed Unificationists could have greatly benefited from applying Gorbatchev’s glasnost to the authoritarian and rather manipulative leadership of the hypocritical Moon family.

Gorbachev is gone. SMM is gone. But the need for transparency and accountability remains.

The present focus on the UM misdeeds in Japan is just a beginning. Unificationists will steadily come to admit the cruel reality that the root of the UM corruption resides within the Moon family’s greed and megalomania. This clearly transpires through their recurrent unethical justifications of egotist misbehaviors in God’s name.

It’s never too late to genuinely say “Thank you so much Mr Gorbatchev!. And long live glasnost!
